CUBAN DISGRACE AT BEIJING 2008 - 24 AUGUST 2008

Cuban taekwondo representative at the Beijing Olympics has disgraced his country and his coach in a professional public forum, by attacking the referee. The Cuban was injured and received the standard 1 minutes to recover. Both the Cuban competitor and his coach failed to notify the officials they required more time, hence the game ended with the Cuban forfeiting the match. Once injury time out is called, it is the responsibility of the coach or the competitor to indicate whether more time is required or if they are ready to continue. The Cuban competitor and coach have since received life bans from official competition.

It is important for all martial artists to display respect, discipline and self control at all times, especially when representing their country, school, their coach and themselves. Koryo Martial Arts instills the Martial Arts spirit and philosophy into our training and our lives. We ensure our students succeed in martial arts and in life through leading by example.

Below is the video of the attack on the referee by the Cuban taekwondo representative at the Beijing 2008 Olympics.

Monday 18 June 2007, our school doors opened at Bonnyrigg Primary School. Head Instructor Ben's nervousness was high but excitment won the day with Ben and the first students. Our first students came from all age groups and set the way for a positive atmosphere that has continued on to this day.

From the first day Koryo Martial Arts provided safe and effective facilities and equipment. Our first students enjoyed mat covered floors, punching bags and kicking pads.

The school's main aim was and still is to provide safe and enjoyable training environment. However, the aim of the school, in tradtion with all martial arts is to challenge our students and see them succeed in reaching their full potential.
